Retirement

I am sad to announce that Mr. Ted Garcia will be retiring this week.  Mr. Garcia has served at St. JPIIHS from its inception in 2006 and has dedicated his life to furthering the educational opportunities of our youth.  He began this transformational work many years prior to coming to St. JPII and we have been so blessed to have him share his wisdom and knowledge with faculty, staff, parents, and students.  In addition to his counseling position, Mr. Garcia has overseen many clubs and organizations to not only help our students grow, but to also make our community a better place to live.  His professional presence, personal care for each person, and sense of humor will be tremendously missed; however, he said we can still call him.  Mr. Garcia, may you be blessed as you have blessed so many! (Pictured top right we have Mr. Garcia with members of the Interact Club making a difference in the community)

In order to help fill the void left by Mr. Garcia, Mrs. McCullion has graciously agreed to move from part-time to full-time at the high school.  They have been working together over the last couple years and have put together a transition plan over the last couple of weeks.  What a blessing!

From Mr. Garcia

Flint Hills Resources is providing a scholarship opportunity for one of our students who may be interested in pursuing a career in engineering. The scholarship is a one-time award of $1,500. Details have been sent by email to seniors in the Class of 2021. Applications are being accepted by our school now. If you have any questions about this scholarship, contact Mrs. McCullion. Our thanks go to Flint Hills Resources for this generous scholarship award.

Additional Security

We have updated the security in our front office.  Please note that you must first ring the buzzer on the right side of the door to the main office to be granted access.  It is newly installed, and we are still working out the kinks.  Your patience is appreciated.

All students are able to log into Destiny to check for any overdue items. Please be sure to ask your child if they have any items they owe the library, including items from last year when we went virtual. These items are still expected to be returned. There are many 9th grade students who have books still checked out from Spring semester their 8th grade year. Look around and if you find any library books please return to the library. Please see the library webpage for access to Destiny. (Use google single sign-in, no username/password is needed so long as a student signs in with their school gmail account).

From Annette Duvall (swim)

Amaris Vasquez travelled to San Antonio to compete in Tuesday's Division II combination TAPPS Regional/State Swim Meet.  She competed in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Breaststroke.  We are so very proud of her for learning breaststroke this year and competing in these two events!  Amaris placed 8th overall in the 100 Butterfly at the State meet and 4th at the Regional meet.  On her 100 breaststroke, Amaris was 30th overall at the State meet and 9th at the Regional meet.  We look forward to next year with more participants at both the Regional and State meet.  Congratulations Amaris!  Coach Annette

National Catholic Schools Day of Giving

An abundance of thanks to our parents and staff who contributed to the National Catholic Schools Day of Giving.   This was the 2nd time we participated in this event and we exceeded last year's total.    We raised $395 from 8 donations.  This will go towards the supplies we need to keep our students and staff save from COVID-19.

Thank you for sharing your treasures with St. John Paul II HS
