G-Force Mentors |
|
Nine
JPIIHS students travelled to Texas A&M University at
Kingsville last Monday to attend a student
conference for training as G-Force Mentors, who will
promote college readiness for all of our students. Our
G-Force students will assist in our GO Center at the
beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. JPIIHS has
partnered with The Texas A&M University - Corpus
Christi Title V-Coop GO Centers Program to
help create a "college going culture" among our
students. A section of
our Library will host our GO Center, that will serve
as follows:
A place to learn more about
college
A place to explore colleges and search for
scholarships
A place to ask questions about your future
A place to find answers about financial aid
A resource for students, parents, teachers and the
community.
Our G-Force students for 2008-2009
are: Michael Castillo, Nina Garza, Ashley Gonzalez,
Jacqueline Harvey, Sarah Hennessee, James Hernandez,
Marshall Matthews, Deborah Ramirez, and Alexandria
Ramos. Our G-Force Mentors already have some ideas
about how to serve their peers with regard to the
college readiness process.

Who Was That Masked Man? |
|
Last
weekend JPIIHS students had a great time at the
Midnight Masquerade Dance. Many students were quite creative with the
masks that they wore, along with their formals and
tuxedoes. JPIIHS students are in position to
establish traditions at our new school, perhaps
Midnight Masquerade will become one of those
traditions. Thanks to everyone who helped make the
dance a success. Below are a few photos submitted by
JPIIHS Parent Rebeca Ortiz.
